The North Idaho College Workforce Training Center is offering several courses to help new drivers in Idaho and Washington attain a Commercial Driver’s License or to help those who have had a CDL in the past to update their skills.
The Commercial Driver’s License Class A course includes 160 hours of classroom, hands-on and behind-the-wheel training and follows the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) required curriculum. The course prepares new drivers for entry-level employment in less than four weeks. Other CDL courses being offered include CDL Refresher and CDL Class A Upgrade.
Those interested in the courses are encouraged to attend a free information session to learn more about the course curriculum, entrance requirements, class schedule, costs and employment opportunities. The information session will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls. Registration is recommended but not required to attend the information session.
Applicants to the Commercial Driver’s License courses must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, pass the Department of Transportation physical exam and drug screen and be at least 18 years old.
