North Idaho College Resort/Recreation Management students, Sorenson Elementary students, and Kroc Center volunteers will clean up along the Coeur d’Alene River Thursday, April 19 and then float the garbage on rafts for disposal.
The clean-up will range from NIC’s Yap-Keehn-Um Beach to the Riverstone development. Volunteers will start cleaning up at 10 a.m. and are expected to finish at 1:30 p.m. Students from NIC’s Resort/Recreation Management program will begin transporting the garbage on rafts from NIC’s beach to the Bureau of Land Management Launch on Blackwell Island at 1 p.m., which is the best opportunity for photos or video.
The clean-up event stems from a course project for the NIC Resort/Recreation Management students to coincide with Earth Week 2012.
