Former Gonzaga University basketball standout Matt Santangelo, who led the Bulldogs to several of their most memorable NCAA tournament victories, will speak at the North Idaho College Booster Club at noon Tuesday, April 24 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
While at Gonzaga, Santangelo surpassed another school point guard legend John Stockton in career assists and led the school to the Elite Eight in 1999 during the NCAA basketball tournament. He was a pivotal component in a change in national perception of the Gonzaga University basketball team, helping to catapult the team from an occasional tournament Cinderella team to the powerhouse it is today.
Santangelo received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University in 2000 and spent seven years playing professional basketball in Europe. He is currently an associate in business development for the money management firm the Summit Capital Group.
The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon. The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.
