NIC to sponsor eighth annual North Idaho adventure race

North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits program will sponsor the eighth annual NIChallenge adventure race Saturday, June 16 in the North Idaho wilderness.

The NIChallenge is a five-hour sprint adventure race that incorporates lake paddling, trail running, mountain biking, special challenges and basic navigation.

Specific details of the NIChallenge course will not be released until just before the race to ensure that participants retain their sense of adventure, according to NIC Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator Jon Totten. The race will begin and finish at the Beauty Creek Campground.

Teams of two or four members in co-ed, all-male or all-female divisions must register by June 11. The cost is $80 per person.

“While the NIChallenge is primarily a team race, a solo division has been added this year for those who want to participate, but are unable to convince their friends to race with them,” Totten said.

Register online at or in person at the Outdoor Pursuits Office located in NIC’s McLain Hall.
