All-state women’s basketball player Kara Staggs announced her early commitment to the North Idaho College 2013-2014 recruiting class this week. Staggs is a senior at Okanagan High School in Washington, where she earned 1A state tournament MVP honors as a junior while leading her team to a state championship.
“Kara will be a tremendous combo-guard for the NIC Lady Cardinals next year. She is an excellent shooter, has great savvy on the court and she’s a proven winner,” said NIC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Chris Carlson.
Last season, she averaged 20 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists per game. In addition, she was named Associated Press 1A All-State first team, Caribou Trail League MVP, team MVP, team captain and was a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Player of the Week.
“Beyond her playing ability, she also possesses the character qualities that we look for when recruiting a player to NIC. We are extremely pleased with her commitment to play for us,” Carlson said.
