Eastern Washington University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jim Hayford will speak at the Booster Club Luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
After spending 10 seasons at Whitworth University, where he won nearly 80 percent of his games, Hayford was named head coach at EWU in March 2011. While at Whitworth, Hayford had a record of 217-57 and a winning percentage of .792. He coached the Pirates to eight 20-win seasons, six appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament (including the last five seasons in a row), five Northwest Conference titles, three NCAA DIII Sweet 16 appearances (2008, 2010, 2011) and one Elite Eight appearance (2011). He has earned five NWC Coach of the Year awards and was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as the West Region Coach of the Year in both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
In his first season as head coach at EWU, Hayford led the team to an 8-8 record in the Big Sky Conference, earning and winning a home playoff game for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. The Eagles 15 overall wins was also their best since 2006-2007.
The public is welcome to attend the luncheon. The cost of lunch is not covered. The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon.
