More than 130 students from Sandpoint High School took advantage of the admission application fee waiver offered from NIC to Sandpoint High School Seniors applying for fall 2013 during the week of Nov. 12.
The program was the brainchild of North Idaho College Vice President for Student Services Graydon Stanley and SHS Guidance Counselor Jeralyn Mire, who discussed different ways NIC could participate in that high school’s GO ON week and specifically application day. NIC was able to waive applications fees for students who applied during the week.
NIC Recruiting Specialist Heather Johnson said the effort is right in line with the statewide College to Completion and Go On programs designed to increase college enrollment rates in Idaho.
“Paying the application fee can be a barrier to students enrolling in college and to alleviate that barrier we waived the fee for them,” Johnson said. “The only step they have left is to turn in their final transcript.”
