Premier Sports Center Director of Operations Troy Nowell and North Idaho College Head Volleyball Coach Kandice Gregorak, who recently resigned, will speak to the NIC Booster Club at noon Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
Nowell played multiple sports at Sandpoint High School as well as summer American Legion baseball for the Riley Creek Lakers from 1995 to 1998. After high school, he played baseball at Glendale Community College in Arizona. During the summer, he played in a Peoria summer league and in the Yavapai Community College summer league. While working out with the Padres and Mariners in Peoria, Ariz., he tried to make a professional roster, but multiple injuries along the way cut his dreams of a professional career short in 2002.
Sports and kids are a great passion for Nowell, who has volunteered and coached a number of various recreation and Little League teams in the last decade. He lives in Post Falls with his wife Jennifer of 10 years and their three children. Nowell is currently the director of operations at the nonprofit Premiere Sports Center in Post Falls.
Gregorak announced her resignation as NIC volleyball head coach for family reasons, effective Jan. 31, after leading the Cardinals to back-to-back national tournament appearances. Gregorak was named SWAC Coach of the Year in 2011, and had a record of 42-15 in her two seasons with NIC.
The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon, typically alternating between the Outback Steakhouse and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.
