Sean Bushéy, who just completed his 16th season as head coach of the Whitworth University soccer team, will be the main speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club’s luncheon at noon Tuesday, April 9 at the Coeur d’Alene Outback Steakhouse.
Over the course of his tenure at Whitworth, Bushéy has established himself as one of the top small-college coaches in the Northwest, if not the country. He has a 206-89-33 record after 17 seasons as the head men's soccer coach (196-83-32 in 16 years at Whitworth). He has led the Pirates to six Northwest Conference titles in the last eight years, and seven NWC titles overall.
In 2011 the Bucs shared their seventh NWC crown under Bushéy.
Bushéy has been named Northwest Conference Men's Coach of the Year four times (2001, 2004, 2007, and 2008). He was head coach of the USL Premier League Spokane Shadow for three seasons (1997-99). The Shadow won the Northwest Division regular season championship in 1997 and 1998 and played in the USL Premier League title match in 1999.
As a player, Bushéy starred at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss. He was an all-district selection, an academic all-American and team captain.
The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon, typically alternating between the Outback Steakhouse and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.
