NIC Sentinel staff takes home several Mark of Excellence awards


Staff members from North Idaho College’s The Sentinel newspaper were honored with several Mark of Excellence awards at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 conference in Spokane this past weekend, including Best All-Around Non-Daily Newspaper.

All first-place award winners are eligible to compete in SPJ’s annual competition that culminates at its fall convention.

1st Place:

Sentinel Staff – Best All-Around Non-Daily Newspaper

3rd Place:

Sarah Munds - Feature Writing

Eric Rivera – Sports Writing

NIC competes in the Medium category with schools that have 5,000-10,000 enrolled students.

In a another competition, the 25th annual College News Design Contest, Sara Munds was awarded an honorable mention in the Features Page Design category.
