NIC students win silver, gold Addy Awards
NIC students stand with their ADDY awards at the American Advertising Federation awards show at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane recently. The theme for the awards show was “The Great Gatsby.”
Twelve North Idaho College graphic
design students took home several gold and silver awards at the 2014 ADDY
Awards in Spokane recently.
The American Advertising
Federation-Spokane puts on the annual awards, which is one of the biggest of
its kind in the area. All gold and silver awards are eligible for competition
at the district level.
NIC students Roy Bidwell, Rebecca Writz and Teree
Taylor, all from Coeur d’Alene, received a Gold Addy Award for developing
the website “www.relocatetoidaho.org” for Coeur d’Alene’s economic development
corporation Jobs Plus.
“Our partnership with the
NIC Web Design program and students in establishing the ‘relocatetoidaho’ website
has been an extraordinary experience demonstrating a valuable educational
partnership and the excellence in our community,” said Jobs Plus President
Hannah Shields, from Rathdrum, entered some work as a professional
even though she is an NIC student, competing against the area’s top advertising
and design agencies. Shields won the prestigious Gold Designer’s Chair Gold Designer’s Chair for her sales and promotion campaign
for Avion Coffee Roasting Co. In addition, Shields earned a Gold Addy, Best of
Division in Elements of Advertising, for her Avion Coffee Roasting Co. website.

Shields will be
representing NIC in the American Advertising Federation national competition
May 28 – 31 in Boca Raton, Fla.
Darcy Gross and Corey
Jeppesen, both of Coeur d’Alene, won the Toni Marie Robideaux Scholarship
based on their design portfolio.
Ryan Maskell, from Post Falls, Ashley
Chaffin, from Coeur d’Alene, and Shields
received a Gold Addy in Web Design for their work on the “indyahistory.com”
website, which showcases the history of Indianapolis.
Leah Hansen, from Seattle, Georges
Pons, from New York, Nathan Drechsel, from
Coeur d’Alene, Jamie Jensen, from
Post Falls, Ernie Bauer, from Priest
River, and Joal Chiu, from Hayden, won
a Silver Addy for their work on a promotional video for the “relocatetoidaho”
