Institutional Effectiveness Indicators


Performance Indicator 1: Student Goal Attainment & Student Satisfaction

Measures:

1. Percentage of polled students who identify or clarify personal educational goals using a survey administered each semester.
2. Percentage of polled students who achieve their personal educational goals using a survey administered each semester.
3. Percentage of students who rate as good or excellent, the college and its services using a nationally-normed survey administered on a regular basis.

Performance Indicator 2: Student Retention (Persistence)

Measures:

1. Percentage of first time, full-time students who begin fall semester and return the following fall semester
2. Percentage of all students who begin fall semester and return the following fall semester.
3. Percentage of students who withdraw from classes/school each semester.


Performance Indicator 3: Program and Degree Completion

Measures:

1. Percentage of first time, full-time freshmen students who complete an AA, AS or AAS degree1.
2. Percentage of transfer2 students who complete an AA, AS or AAS degree1. (Future indicator)
3. Percentage of freshmen students who complete a certificate3 in Professional-Technical Programs.
4. Percentage of students and transfer students2 who do not receive a degree but complete 60 or more college-level credits with a 2.0 GPA1.

Performance Indicator 4: Transfer Student Success

Measures:

1. Percentage of students who enroll at a four-year institution in Idaho within four years after initial enrollment at NIC. 
2. Percentage of students who transfer to other schools as reported by the National Student Clearinghouse.
3. Number of students who are concurrently enrolled at NIC and another institution of Higher Education.
4. Student GPA after transfer to a four-year Idaho school. (NIC GPA compared with end of first year GPA at four-year school.) (Future indicator. Data to be provided by Statewide tracking system.)
5. Comparison of group GPA of NIC students who transfer to University of Idaho and Lewis Clark State College as compared to native students of the same school.
6. Comparison of group degree attainment of NIC students who transfer to University of Idaho and Lewis Clark State College as compared to native students of the same school.


Performance Indicator 5: Placement Rate in Workforce

Measures:

1. Percentage of graduates from certificate or terminal degree programs placed in training related positions, non-training related positions, or continuing education within six months after graduation.
2. Percentage of graduates from certificate or terminal degree programs passing national certification/licensure exams in their field.


Performance Indicator 6: Employer Assessment of Student

Measures:

1. Percentage of employers rating graduates from certificate or terminal degree programs in training related positions as excellent or good in job-related conceptual knowledge, in job-related technical skills, in communication and interpersonal skills, and in overall job satisfaction.
2. Percentage of employers stating that they would consider NIC graduates as a resource for future personnel needs.


Performance Indicator 7: Workforce Training Program Effectiveness

Measures:

1. Number of customized training contracts completed annually.
2. Percentage of contractors rating quality and value of training as satisfactory or above.
3. Percentage of training participants rating quality and value of training as satisfactory or above.
4. Percentage of clients using the Small Business Development Center rating its services as satisfactory or above.


Performance Indicator 8: General Education Program Effectiveness

Measures:
1. Compare Student Opinion Survey ratings on the overall satisfaction with the quality of education at NIC.
2. Compare Alumni Survey results on how students’ educational experience at NIC contributed to their personal growth in the areas of speaking and writing effectively.
3. Compare Alumni Survey results about how students’ educational experience at NIC contributed to their personal growth in recognizing their rights/responsibilities and privileges as a citizen.


Performance Indicator 9: Progression from Developmental to College Level Programs

Measures:

1. Percentage of students completing remedial classes in math, reading and English with a C- or better.
2. Percentage of students who progressed from remedial classes to 100-level or above core classes and completed those classes with a C- or better.
3. Percentage of students who progressed from remedial classes to graduation or transferred to other institutions/programs.
4. Percentage of pre-tech students who gained the basic skills needed to be admitted to technical programs.
5. Percentage of pre-tech students who progressed from basic skills courses into technical programs and obtained a degree, certification and/or licensure.


Performance Indicator 10: ABE/GED Program Effectiveness

Measures:

1. Percentage of students who progressed within current level, moved to higher level, or completed level and/or individual learning goal.
2. Percentage of students who mastered basic literacy skills in math, writing, reading, English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer skills.
3. Percentage of students enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes who passed the General Education Development (GED) tests. 
4. Percentage of students who moved from ABE classes and/or GED testing to enrollment in NIC academic or technical programs. 

Performance Indicator 11: Teaching Excellence

Measures:

1. Percentage of full-time faculty who earn professional development credits each year.
2. Number of tenured faculty and probationary faculty represented in entire faculty.
3. Degrees held by full-time and part-time faculty.
4. Decile ratings from student evaluations of entire institution. (Future Indicator)
5. Decile ratings from student evaluations by division or program. (Future Indicator)

Performance Indicator 12: Participation Rate in Service Area

Measures:

1. Number and percentage of students entering NIC directly from high schools in the five northern county service area.
2. Number and percentage of students entering NIC after at least one year has lapsed since high school graduation.
3. Number of students who take advantage of NIC educational offerings (credit and non-credit) by county and by city.
4. Number of students participating in distance educational offerings.
5. Annual report from Boswell Hall on use of auditorium, art gallery and TV studio for college and community events.
6. Annual report from Athletic Director on use of gymnasium for athletic events and community events.
7. Annual report from NIC Library on non-student use of Library.
8. Annual report from NIC SUB on use of facilities for student activities, institutional activities and community events.
9. Annual report from Campus Events Committee on use of college facilities and grounds for community and private events.
10. Annual report from Vice President for Instruction’s office on use of college classrooms for community and private events.
11. Annual report on service activities contributed to the community by NIC students through the Service Learning Program, Phi Theta Kappa service activities and ASNIC service activities.
12. Number of service area residents who utilize campus as reported in a random phone survey conducted every three years. (Future Indicator)
