Meeting Notes - February 1, 2007

Attendees:  Kathy Christie, Steve Ruppel, Charley Cahill, Lisa Clark, Ann Lewis

There was discussion re: datamarts and reporting models:

  • Datamarts encompass more than just Datatel
  • Datamarts are for more than just for operational reporting
  • Report delivery is more than just Excel / Pivot Tables
  • Training is critical
  • Model for datamarts is commonplace
  • Legacy reporting model is not a valid approach
  • Coordination group (ICCG) is key - includes all information centers (instruction, registrar, admissions, institutional research, financial aid, finance, human resources)

The group decided to create a PowerPoint presentation to help educate. Charley was put in charge of the presentation with the RST to provide input. The presentation will be used at the next DSG meeting.

The purchase of the Safari Info Tools for SQL is in progress. Charley will set up a conference call with ASG to confirm what components we need and their current  prices.

Agenda items for next time - discussion of campus wide training plan, budget items for next year, and bringing together the coordination group
