North Idaho College

  • North Idaho College is a comprehensive community college that serves more than 6,500 students in credit classes (more than 800 in Bonner and Boundary counties) and 6,300 in non-credit classes across the five northern counties of Idaho.
  • NIC offers two-year associate’s degrees and technical certificates in a wide spectrum of academic transfer, professional-technical, and general education programs.
  • NIC was founded in 1933 in Coeur d’Alene, but also serves North Idaho through outreach centers in Bonners Ferry, Kellogg, and Sandpoint. NIC has had a presence in the Sandpoint region for decades.
  • NIC at Sandpoint moved to the Sandpoint Events Center, located at 102 South Euclid, in May 2012, enhancing NIC's ability to expand course and program offerings to better meet regional demand.
  • Community colleges are a great value and allow quality, flexible options for students to achieve their dreams. With a new state-of-the-art science lab at NIC at Sandpoint, students will be able to complete an associate’s degree without leaving Sandpoint, which is a foundation for further higher education or beginning a career path.

"If you're looking for a school that has a low student-teacher ratio where you get the attention you need, a school that has a reasonable price and you receive a priceless education, then NIC is definitely that school!"

"Being able to earn an associate's degree without having to travel to Coeur d'Alene will vastly improve educational access for students in the great Sandpoint region. As a student who regularly commutes from Priest River to Coeur d'Alene for school, I know first-hand how impactful this will be."

"I participated in the high school dual credit program when the center was still located in Ponderay. The move to Sandpoint not only provides the space needed to offer more classes, it also provides a greater opportunity for students still in high school to be able to begin taking college courses, which I very highly recommend."
