The Northwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities

We are thrilled to announce that Kim Barnes, Distinguished Professor at the University of Idaho, is this year's keynote speaker. Kim was also the 2014 recipient of the Award for Excellence in the Arts from Governor Butch Otter and the Idaho Commission on the Arts.


Call for Papers
North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho is hosting the third annual Northwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities on Saturday, November 3, 2018. The purpose of this conference is to give undergraduate students from around the region the opportunity to present their work in a public and professional academic setting. We invite submissions of original scholarship, including creative work, focusing on any area of the humanities including, but not limited to, the following disciplines: literature, creative writing, philosophy, ancient and modern languages, history, ethnic studies, religious studies, women’s studies, cultural studies, film and visual culture, and the fine arts. Presentations must take the form of 10-15 minute papers or readings (about 6 to 8 double-spaced pages). Submissions are due Monday, October 1, 2018.


Registration
The conference registration fee, which includes snacks throughout the day, lunch, and dinner, is $35 per person. The fee to attend just the dinner/keynote is $25 per person. (These fees also help cover the cost of publicity, facilities, and the keynote speaker.) The fee is payable online or by check made payable to North Idaho College and mailed to Nikole King, North Idaho College, English Department, 1000 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

New! $10 registration fee discount to students who submit a paper by Friday, April 13 and register for the conference by Friday, May 4. This discount is also available to faculty and all other guests who register for the conference by Friday, May 4.

We encourage participants to register and pay in advance, but payment will also be accepted at the conference during check-in. (There are several check-in times and locations: one throughout the day in Lee-Kildow Hall for conference participants and one just before dinner in the Student Union Building, second floor, for those attending just the dinner/keynote.) When registering online, guests will have the option to pay at the time of registration or to pay at the conference. Again, please kindly pay in advance if possible to help the check-in process run smoothly on the day of the conference.
