Verification
What is verification?
Verification is the process of confirming information reported on the FAFSA by you, your parents, or spouse. By signing your FAFSA you agree, if asked, to (1)To provide information that will verify the accuracy of your application; and/or (2)To provide U.S. or state income tax transcripts that you filed or are required to file. To verify that you provided correct information the financial aid office at your school will compare your FAFSA with the requested documents requested through your Cardinal Mail.
Verification Process
Please follow all guidelines and directions outlined in the e-mail our office sends you. Students will not receive an award until the verification process is complete. Please allow two to four weeks to be verified and awarded.
Once the required documentation is received, NIC will compare the submitted documents to the information initially provided on your FASFA. If there are any discrepancies, NIC will make the corrections and you will receive an updated Student Aid Report (SAR).Occasionally the documentation that was provided to NIC does not provide all of the necessary information to complete the verification process. Sometimes additional questions arise during the review of your verification documents. Keep an eye on your Cardinal Mail. If the financial aid office needs anything else, we will send you an email requesting the needed additional information.
