Purpose
To provide financial assistance for college to Native American high school students.
Eligibility
This program is open:
- to enrolled members of U.S. federally-recognized American Indian tribes
- Alaska Native groups
- other students who can document one-fourth degree federally-recognized Indian blood.
A teacher or community member must nominate students. Nominees must be high school juniors or seniors planning to enroll full time at an accredited college or university. Along with heir applications, they must submit a 500-word essay on their most outstanding intellectual endeavor.
Selections is based on the student's:
- academic
- artistic
- or leadership endeavor.
Financial need is also considered.
