Purpose

To provide financial assistance to Native American and other minority upper-division student members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

Eligibility

This program is open to ASSE students members who are U.S. citizens and members of minority ethnic or racial groups. 

Applicants must be majoring in:

  • occupational safety
  • health
  • environment or closely-related field (e.g., industrial or environmental engineering, environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational health nursing). 

They must be full-time students who have completed at least 60 semester hours with a GPA 3.0 or higher. 

Along with their application, they must submit 2 essays of 300 words or less:

  • why they are seeking a degree in occupational safety and health or closely-related field, a brief description of their current activities, and how those relate to their career goals and objectives
  • why they should be awarded this scholarship (including career goals and financial need).

Financial data

The Stipend is $5,250 per year
