Purpose

To provide financial assistance to Native American and other minority students interested in preparing for a career in an automotive-related profession.

Eligibility

This program is open to minority (African American, Asian Indian American, Asian Pacific American, Hispanic American, or Native American) high school seniors or students who are currently enrolled full time at a college, university, or technical school.  Applicants must be interested in preparing for a career in the automotive industry.  They must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher. 

Along with their application, they must submit 250-word essays on :

  1. what diversity in the automotive industry means to them
  2. how their automotive profession or endeavors will have an impact on diversity

 

Financial need is not considered in the selection process.  U.S. citizenship is required.

Financial data

Stipends range from $1,000 to $2,500.

Additional information

This scholarship, established in 1998, honors the first African American to own a new car dealership.
