Purpose

To provide financial assistance for college to Native American students, especially those interested in majoring in education.

Eligibility

This program is open to American Indian and Native Alaskan full-time undergraduate students.  Preference is given to students working on a degree in education.  Applicants must submit documentation of financial need, a Certificate of Indian Blood showing at least one-quarter Indian blood, proof of tribal enrollment, an essay on their educational goals, 2 letters of recommendation, and their most recent transcript.

Financial data

The stipend is $1,500 per year

Duration

1 year; may be renewed up to 3 additional years or until completion of degree, provdied the recipient maintains satisfactory progress.
