Purpose

To provide financial assistance to members of the Flandreau Santee  Sioux Tribe who are interested in attending college in any state.

Eligibility

This program is open to enrolled members of the tribe who are interested in attending a college or university in any state and working on an undergraduate degree.  They must apply for all available funding, using the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).  Awards are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Financial data

For the first semester of each year, full-time students receive:

    • $900 as freshmen
    • $1,000 as sophomores
    • $1,100 as juniors
    • 1,200 as seniors

For the second semester of each year, full-time students who have a GPA of 2.0 to 3.0 during the first semester receive the same amounts.

Those who have less than 2.0 receive:

  • $720 as freshmen
  • $800 as sophomores
  • $880 as juniors
  • $960 as seniors

Those who have more than 3.0 receive:

  • $1,000 as freshmen
  • $1,100 as sophomores
  • $1,200 as juniors
  • $1,300 as seniors

Part-time students receive stipends as equal to half the amount of full-time students in the same category.
