Purpose
To provide financial assistance to members of the Navajo Nation who live near the Four Corners and are interested in attending college in any state to p0repare for a career in the electric utility industry.
Eligibility
This program is open to members of the Navajo Nation who live near the Four Corners and are attending or planning to attend a college or university in any state as a full-time student.
Applicants must intend to major in a field that will prepare them for a career in the electric utility industry:
- accounting
- business administration
- chemistry
- computer science
- engineering
- human resources
- medical science and technology
- nursing
- occupational safety
- vocational programs
- water treatment
They must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Along with their application, they must submit 3 essays of 300 words each on
- their career plans, why they have chosen that field, and what they have done to demonstrate their interest in that field
- their ability to deal with others effectively
- how society will benefit from their education
Financial data
The stipend ranges from $1,000 to $1,500 per year
Duration
1 year; may be renewed, provided the recipient continues to meet eligibility requirements
