Purpose

To provide financial assistance to academically superior members of the Navajo Nation who are interested in working on an undergraduate degree.

Eligibility 

This program is open to enrolled members of the Navajo Nation who are attending or planning to enroll as full-time students at an accredited college or university. 

Applicants who are graduating high school seniors must have the following minimum combinations of ACT score and GPA :

  • 21 and 3.8
  • 22 and 3.7
  • 23 and 3.6
  • 24 and 3.5
  • 25 and 3.4
  • 26 and 3.3
  • 27 and 3.2
  • 28 and 3.1
  • 29 and 3.0

They must have completed in high school at least 1 unit of Navajo language and at least half a unit of Navajo government. Applicants who are current undergraduate students must have completed at least 24 semester credit hours with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Financial data

The stipend is $7,000 per year

Duration

1 year; may be renewed if the recipient maintains full-time status and a GPA of 3.0 or higher
