Purpose 

To provide financial assistance to members of the Grand Traverse Band (GTB) of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians who are interested in attending a vocational/technical institute in any state.

Eligibility 

This program is open to enrolled GTB members who are working on or planning to work on licensing or certification in a vocational field. Applicants must be able to document financial need. Along with their application, they must submit a personal statement on how they plan to serve their Indian community after they have successfully completed their course of study.

Financial data 

Stipends are $5 per credit hour, to a maximum of $4,800 per year or $2,400 for programs less than 480 hours. Recipients are also entitled to a grant of up to $500 per year for licensing fees, certifications, and state board fees.

Duration 

Students must be able to complete their programs within 3 years.
