Purpose 

To provide financial assistance for undergraduate or graduate study to Minnesota Chippewa Tribe members.

Eligibility 

Applicants must be an enrolled member of the Grand Portage Band of Chippewa or have a parent who is enrolled. They must be enrolled at or accepted for enrollment at an accredited training program or degree-granting college or university and have applied for all other forms of financial aid. Residents of states other than Minnesota are eligible only for college or university study, not for vocational training.

Financial data 

The amount of the award is based on the need of the recipient.

Duration 

1 year; may be renewed for a total of;

    • 10 semesters or
    • 15 quarters to complete a 4-year degree program
    • if recipients maintain full-time enrollment
    • and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

 

Adjustments are considered for part-time and/or graduate study.

Number awarded 

Varies each year.

Deadline 

At least 8 weeks before school starts.
