Purpose 

To provide financial assistance to members of the Grand Taverse Band (GTB) of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians who are interested in attending college or graduate school in any state.

Eligibility 

This program is open to enrolled GTB members who are working on or planning to work o an associate, bachelor's, master's, of doctoral degree at a college or university in any state. Applicants must be able to document financial need. Along with their application, they must submit a personal statement on how they plan to serve their Indian community after they have successfully completed their course of study.

Financial data

    • Stipends for associate degree students are $200 per credit hour, to maximum of $4,800 per year
    • Stipends for bachelor's degree students are $250 per credit hour, to a maximum of $6,000 per year
    • Stipends for graduate students are $600 per credit hour, to a maximum of $7,200 per year.

 

Duration

1 semester; may be renewed as long as the recipient maintains a GPA o 2.0 or higher.
