Purpose

To provide financial assistance to needy students of Hopi ancestry who are working on an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degree.

Eligibility

This program is open to students who are working on an associate, baccalaureate, graduate, or postgraduate degree. Applicants must be enrolled members of the Hopi Tribe. They must be enrolled members of the Hopi Tribe. They must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher or a composite of 50% or higher on the GED and be able to demonstrate financial need.

Financial data

The maximum grant is $2,500 per semester ($5,000) per year).

Duration

1 semester; may be renewed for up to

  • 10 terms of undergraduate study or up t 5 terms of graduate study
  • provided the recipient maintains a GPA of
      • 2.5 or higher as an undergraduate
      • 3.0 as a graduate student.

Additional information

This grant is awarded as a secondary source of financial aid to eligible students who are also receiving aid from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Higher Education program. Recipients must attend school on a full-time basis.
