Purpose

To provide financial assistance to Native Hawaiian women who are interested in working on an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Eligilibilty

This program is open to female residents of Hawaii who are Native Hawaiian, defined as a descendant of the aboriginal inhabitants of the Hawaiian islands prior to 1778.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited

 

      • associate
      • bachelor's
      • or graduate degree program

 

They must be able to demonstrate

 

      • academic achievement (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
      • good moral character
      • and financial need. 

 

Along with their application, they must submit a

 

      • short statement indicating their reasons for attending college
      • their planned course of study
      • and their career goals

 

Financial data

The amounts of the awards depend on the availability of funds and the need of the recipient; recently stipends averaged $1,000.

Duration

1 year; may be renewed.

Number awarded

Varies each year; recently, 61 of these scholarships were awarded.

Deadline

February of each year.
