Purpose

To provide financial assistance for college to Native American and other minority high school seniors.

Eligibility

This program is open to members of an ethnic minority group who are high school seniors accepted at a 4-year college or university.

Applicants must have a mathematics and critical reading SAT score of 1000 or higher or ACT score of 21 or higher.

Selection is based on

 

      • academic achievement
      • financial need
      • dedication towards community service
      • and leadership potential. U.S. citizenship is required

 

Financial data

The maximum stipend is $7,200 per year.

Duration

4 years.

Additional information

The program also offers  personal and career counseling on a year-round basis, a week of interaction with other scholarship students from around the country, and assistance in obtaining summer jobs and permanent employment after graduation. It was established in 1973 by a grant from Chesebrough-Pond.
