Purpose

To provide financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students from Hawaii, especially those of Hawaiian descent, working on a degree in Hawaiian language.

Eligibility

This program is open to full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students who are residents of Hawaii.

Applicants must be able to

 

      • demonstrate financial need
      • interest in the Hawaiian
      • language
      • culture, and history; 
      • and a GPA of 2.5 or higher. 

 

Along with their application, they must submit an essay of 1 to 2 pages on

 

      • their personal, community, and volunteer experiences
      • future goals
      • and source of their inspiration and strength. 

 

Preference is given to Native Hawaiians (descendants of the aboriginal inhabitants of the Hawaiian Islands prior to 1778).
