Purpose - To provide financial assistance to Alaska Natives who are original enrollees to the Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) or their lineal descendants and do not currently meet the GPA requirements for other scholarships offered by the foundation.

Eligibility - This program is open to Alaska Native enrollees to CIRI under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971 and their lineal descendants. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree or technical skills certificate program but have a GPA below the 2.5 requirement in 1 semester. There is no Alaska residency requirement. Along with the application, they must submit a 500-word statement on their educational and career goals and how they are contributing, or planning to contribute, to a positive Alaska Native community. Selection is based on that statement, academic achievement, rigor of course work or degree program, student financial contribution, financial need, grade level, previous work performance, community service, and relationship of degree program to career goals.

Financial data - Up to $2,000 may be awarded to each recipient during the calendar year.

Duration - 1 year; nonrenewable.

Number awarded - Varies each year; recently, 3 of these awards were presented.

Deadline - March, June, September, or November of each year.
