Purpose - To provide financial assistance tjo enrolled members of the Native Village of Kotzebue-Kotzebue I.R.A. who are interested in attending an accredited vocational technical institute to prepare for employment.

Eligibility - Enrolled members of the Native Village of Kotzebue-Kotzebue I.R.A. currently residing in Kotzebue are eligible to apply for  a grant to assist with the costs of attending and accredited vocational technical institute to gain the skills and training necessary to secure employment. Applicants must have been residents of Kotzebue for at least 31 days prior to submitting an application; must be at least 18 years of age; must be unemployed, underemployed, or in need of training to obtain reasonable employment; and must be able to document financial need. They must have a high school diploma or a GED cerificate (or be in the process of earning the degree). A Certificate of Indian Blood indicating at least a quarter quantum Alaska Native or American Indian blood must be submitted. Priority is given to first-time applicants.

Financial data - The amount awarded varies, depending upon the needs of the recipient and the funds available.

Duration - The length of training in any field is limited to 24 months (36 months for nursing programs).

Number awarded - Varies each year.

Deadline - Applicants may be sumitted at any time, but they must be received at least 10 days before the start of the program.
