Purpose - To provide financial assistance to Minnesota Chippewa Tribe high school graduates who are interested in postsecondary education.

Eligibility - Applicants must be at least one-quarter Indian ancestry, residents of Minnesota for at least 1 year, high school graduates or the equivalent, and enrolled members of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe or eligible for enrollment. Financial need is required.

Financial data - Stipends range up to $3,000 per year, depending on need.

Duration - 1 year; may be renewed.

Additional information - Applicants for this program must also apply for financial aid administered by their institution and any other aid for which they may be eligible (e.g., work study, Social Security, veteran's benifits). Recipients may attend a college, university, or vocational school.

Number awarded - Varies each year.

Deadline - For vocational school students, at least 8 weeks before school starts; for college or university students, June of each year.
