Purpose - To provide financial assistance to Native Americans who are attending a Tribal College or University (TCU) and majoring in pre-engineering.

Eligibility - This program is open to American Indians or Alaska Natives who are enrolled full time and are at least sophomores at an eligible TCU. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.9 of higher and be able to demonstrate financial need. They must have declared a major in pre-engineering (including electrical, computer, aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or material engineering or computer science) and be planning to complete a bachelor's degree in engineering at a tribal college and/or at a mainstream university. Along with their application, they must submit 1) short essays (up to 500 words each) on how they perceive themselves as leaders in their school or community and how their education will help the Native American community; and 2) a personal statement of 1,000 words that includes their personal background, their academic background, their educational and career goals, and how this scholarship will help them achieve those goals.

Financial data - The stipend is $5,000.

Duration - 1 year.

Additional information - This program is funded by Lockheed Martin in partnership with the American Indian College Fund. Recipients are also offered a summer internship with Lockheed Martin.
