How often can I vote?
One time. Once you are finished voting and click submit, you are not permitted to change your vote or to vote again.
Who is eligible to vote?
Every registered student at North Idaho College who is taking one or more credit hours is eligible to vote.
When can I vote in the 2008 Fall Election?
Voting hours for the Fall 2008 Election are Monday, September 22, 2008 at 8:00 AM PST until Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 6:00pm PST.
Where do I go to vote?
The online voting system can be accessed from or the www.nic.edu/vote.
What do I have to do before I can vote online?
You need to be a registered student, taking one or more credit hours.
You also need to use your NICOnline user name and Password.
Can I still vote in person?
No. Online voting is the only option for voting in ASNIC elections.
Do I have to use a computer on campus to cast my vote?
No. Any computer with access to the Internet can be used to cast votes provided it meets the minimum web browser requirements. (See next question)
What web browsers can I use to cast my vote?
Current version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape Navigator -
ASNIC Election works with Internet Explorer version 4.0 & above and with Netscape Navigator 4.7 and above.
How long will it take to cast my vote online?
There is no time limit involved. You may take as little or as much time as you need, but remember to press the submit button at the bottom of the page to cast your vote.
Also, make sure to vote before 6:00 pm PST on the last day of the election to have your vote count.
What if I accidentally make a wrong choice on the ballot?
You are allowed to review and change your ballot at any time while logged in, as long as you have not submitted your vote.
What if I vote for too many people in one election?
The ASNIC System has built in error checking, so if you choose too many people the system will ask you to correct your error.
Can I vote for some issues now, then vote for the rest later?
No. Once the ballot is opened you must complete your selections. If your computer or browser crash, you will need to log in again and restart the voting process.
What happens if my computer crashes or I close the browser while I'm in the middle of voting?
As long as your vote has not been submitted, you may log in and vote again. However, your previous ballot will be erased and you will have to start the voting process over from the beginning.
What should I do if the system is taking a long time to load the ballot?
First, be patient. Some ballots are larger than others and, especially at peak voting times, there may be many people voting at once. You can also try voting at a later time. Keep in mind the open poll times.
What if the system says I have already voted?

What if someone I want to vote for is not on the ballot?
Write-ins will not be allowed for this election.
Can other people see who I voted for?
No. Your vote is kept confidential and can NOT be viewed by anyone. Only the total votes of all voting students are accessible.
Is my vote anonymous?
Yes. Your vote is kept strictly secure and anonymous. The system keeps track of whether voted, not how you voted.
What kind of security measures are in place?
Security and privacy are critical in every election. ASNIC Elections security solutions comply with rigorous industry standards and are compatible with the widest range of platforms available. There is no additional software for a voter to download or install.
NIC servers are protected against attack by state-of-the-art intrusion detection software. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. The application is located on secure and dedicated servers. The database is updated on another server.
Can I see who I voted for after I submit my vote?
Once you click submit you will be unable to view your ballot because your vote is not stored with your name.
How do I know my vote has been counted?
Once you click submit you will see a thank you message declaring that your part in the voting process is complete. The system will then tally the results.
Why can't I see the vote tally?
Vote tallies will be announced after the election closes.
How can I find election results?
The results of the primary and general elections will be available one hour following the closing of the respective polls.
