Language Lab
The NIC Language Lab supports those students who are enrolled in Modern Language courses; outside-of-class practice is required for those courses. Additionally, our Language Lab is available to all NIC students and staff who wish to utilize our array of materials to enhance and/or improve their language skills.
Materials
- Audio: Most course texts have CD or cassette tapes and audio scripts.
- Computer: Lots of varied activities!
- Course Website: Some courses have a site to practice grammar and vocabulary to coordinate with course materials. Contact your instructor for more information.
- Internet Sites: Bookmarked for French, German and Spanish
- Elementary and Intermediate Levels: CD-Rom programs complement the text offerings for some courses.
- Computer Programs: For all levels of core languages to assist with learning of grammar/vocabulary/reading/etc. Self-guided programs include Rosetta Stone for French and Spanish.
- Video and DVD: We have a wide variety of English and International. (These must be viewed in the lab.)
- Print: Magazines in Foreign Language Reference Books: dictionaries, verb books, grammar books, etc.
Most materials are in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and American Sign Language. Some materials are in Chinese, Italian, Korean, Latin and Russian.
Hours
Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Fridays, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
