Below are several amazing websites that we find to be fantastic resources in researching and learning about careers, career development, and job search skills.
- Career Information: Most accurate up-to-date resource for career information. Job descriptions, wages, employment outlook, tips, & training requirements for 95% of the occupations in Idaho and nationally. Also information on colleges, financial aid, owning your own business, etc. Email career@nic.edu to request a portfolio for 24/7 access!
Contact Professionals in the Community
- Community Professionals: Talk with local professionals who work in your career fields of interest. If you are an NIC student (please use your NIC email) or an individual who's worked with Career Counseling Services, email career@nic.edu and include your name and a request for access to the New Updated List of over 60 local professionals! Use our Informational Interview Guide to help you conduct an effective Informational Interview.
- Career Guide: We have collaborated with NIC's Library to help you locate information concerning careers in any imaginable field or profession. We've added documents we've authored regarding career development (career exploration, decision making, etc.) and job search (resumes, interviewing, etc.). Click on the icon above to use the extensive Career Guide linked through North Idaho College's Molstead Library Guide to Career Research.
- Local Professionals: Career Explore NW is designed to guide people toward a job or career. Under each industry cluster you will find a collection of videos that highlight professionals in different types of jobs that are available in the Spokane/N. Idaho region as well as other great information around what schooling is needed and average salaries. Career Explore NW is a project of KSPS Public Television in partnership with the Spokane Workforce Council.
- National Professionals: Career videos from CareerOneStop give career explorers, students, and job searchers insight into hundreds of careers. The videos depict more than 800 careers, bring to life the responsibilities, work settings, and employment trends for a broad range of occupations. All career details are based on authoritative occupation and labor market information from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network (O*NET) program and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS}.
- Online Career Library: Simply click on the icon above for on-campus, WTC, and outreach center use. For off-campus use, just give us a call for the User Name and Password, which are available to all higher ed. institutions in Coeur d'Alene (Call 208-769-7700).
- Use the Search Box to "Search Job Profiles" for nearly any career you can think of.
- Also explore careers within 16 clusters by choosing "Job and industry profiles."
- The "Career Opportunities News" periodical contains the latest and greatest tips.
Career Advantage Videos
- Career Planning and Job Search Videos: A collection of videos that address all aspects of job search. The expert presenters include Richard Bolles, Jeremy Rifkin, Barbara Sher, Howard Figler, William Bridges and industry leaders such as top executives at Sun Microsystems and Citibank.

Scholarships
As a supplement to the information and services available through the North Idaho College Financial Aid Office, we provide the largest scholarship database in the U.S. through the Idaho Career Information System. Email career@nic.edu to request access.
