NIC Dental Hygiene students receive hands-on training and clinical experience.
Dental Hygiene Clinic Opens
North Idaho College’s new dental hygiene clinic is now open on the main campus in Coeur d’Alene, providing training for students and low-cost quality dental hygiene care for the community. The facility serves as a learning laboratory for students in the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant programs. Located in the newly renovated Winton Hall, the clinic includes eight chairs and operatories, and a special room for patients with sensory-related needs.
NIC launched the two-year Dental Hygiene program in January 2021 and the first cohort of students will graduate in December. The new clinic allows students to receive hands-on training and complete their clinical rotations on campus, supervised by local dentists, hygienists, and program instructors.
The Dental Assistant program, offered through the Workforce Training Center,
will utilize the facility for training students to perform digital radiographic
imaging. Special thanks to Idaho Workforce Development Council and Delta Dental
of Idaho for investing in the dental hygiene clinic.
