Call for Submissions
North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho is hosting the fifth annual Northwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The conference aims to provide undergraduate students currently enrolled in any two- or four-year college, university, or community college with a learning opportunity to present their work in a professional academic setting and to celebrate their intellectual and creative endeavors. We invite submissions of original scholarship, including creative work, in any area of the humanities including, but not limited to, the following disciplines: literature, creative writing, philosophy, ancient and modern languages, history, ethnic studies, religious studies, women’s studies, cultural studies, film, and visual culture, sociology, anthropology, and the fine arts. Examples of various presentation formats include reading a paper or a piece of creative writing, presenting a PowerPoint slideshow, reciting original poetry, giving a speech, or showing an original short film. Presentations must be approximately 10 to 15 minutes in length. Submissions should be sent to Nikole King at nikole.king@nic.edu. Please see Submission & Presentation Guidelines for more details.
Final submissions are due Monday, February 28, 2022.
Registration
The full conference registration fee, which includes snacks throughout the day, lunch, and the dinner/keynote, is $35 per person. The fee to attend just the dinner/keynote is $25 per person. For guests who wish to attend only the panels, which includes snacks throughout the day but not lunch or the dinner/keynote, the fee is $10. Registration fees are payable online or by check made payable to North Idaho College and mailed to Nikole King, North Idaho College, English Department, 1000 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
We encourage participants to register and pay online in advance, but payment will also be accepted at the conference during check-in. (There are several check-in times and locations: one throughout the day in the DeArmond Building for conference participants and one just before dinner in the Student Union Building, second floor, for those attending just the dinner/keynote.) When registering online, guests will have the option to pay at the time of registration or to pay at the conference. Please kindly pay in advance, if possible, to help the check-in process run smoothly on the day of the conference.
