Quality Matters

Quality Matters at NIC

What is Quality Matters?

Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered peer-review process and rubric designed to support faculty in designing and revising online and hybrid courses. The QM rubric can also be helpful for faculty wanting to improve their face-to-face courses. Visit Quality Matters for more information

What Quality Matters Trainings are Available?

Applying the Quality Matter's Rubric (APPQMR)

Learn the underlying principles behind the QM Rubric and the critical elements of the QM quality assurance process. Learn about drafting helpful recommendations as you apply the Rubric to an actual course. It is particularly helpful to those new to QM or those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and blended learning. In addition to learning about the QM Rubric and the course review process, participants will learn to apply the concept of alignment and draft helpful recommendations for course improvement.

Contact eLearning for information about the next APPQMR.

Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)

Use the QM Rubric to review your own courses and develop a course improvement plan. The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own online courses and develop a course improvement plan. The content is based on the essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. While APPQMR is not a required prerequisite, IYOC relies heavily on the Quality Matters Rubric and it is recommended that participants take APPQMR before signing up for IYOC.
