President’s Bio
Dr. Michael Sebaaly was named interim president of North Idaho College, starting his service to the college in this role on November 10, 2021.
Throughout Dr. Sebaaly’s higher education career, he has been a strong advocate for community and technical colleges. A champion for providing access to underrepresented students, Dr. Sebaaly is committed to ensuring all who desire to improve their lives through education can find success at NIC, success that leads to good jobs, satisfying careers and the ability to make meaningful contributions to one’s community.
Dr. Sebaaly holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Certificate of Advanced Study in social studies education from the University of Buffalo. He received his Master of Arts in history from Buffalo State College and obtained his doctorate degree in educational leadership from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
Dr. Sebaaly inspired students, leveraged community relationships and exhibited exceptional leadership at Northwest Kansas Technical College and Alfred State prior to bringing those strengths and values to his work at NIC, which he began in 2019.
Highlights from Dr. Sebaaly’s head wrestling coach career include coaching nine All-Americans and one National Champion in his first two seasons at NIC, along with two team top-10 finishes.
Dr. Sebaaly builds and strengthens teams through trust, hard work and the creation of solid relationships. During his career, Dr. Sebaaly took a program from the bottom of the ranks in Kansas to winning the college’s first conference title in any sport. During his time in Kansas, the team improved their national finish year over year. In his last three seasons there, Dr. Sebaaly’s program boasted eleven NJCAA All-Americans, four National Finalists, three NJCAA National Champions, and two top-10 finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament.
Dr. Sebaaly has achieved success in transferring student-athletes to a number of NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA Schools. With a student-centered mindset, Dr. Sebaaly continues to connect students with their dreams by creating greater opportunities for them to advance their education.
Dr. Sebaaly, a Lancaster, New York native, resides in Coeur d’Alene with his wife Megan and their five children: Charlotte, Addison, Isabelle, Abigail, and Teddy.
