President’s Welcome

Welcome and thank you for your interest in North Idaho College. I am honored to lead this long-established and well-respected institution. I take the college’s role as a community partner very seriously in all of my endeavors as president of North Idaho College, as I believe fully in the mission of a community college and have seen it change lives and significantly impact the economic vitality of our region.

North Idaho College is a comprehensive community college, meeting the academic and programmatic needs of our students while ensuring that we are able to meet the workforce demands of business and industry. NIC provides more than 85 transfer and career and technical degree and certificate programs to prepare students for the workforce and for rewarding lives as members of our vibrant community. NIC’s five-county service area spans more than 7,000 square miles. The college serves this vast region through outreach centers in Bonners Ferry, Kellogg, and Sandpoint, as well as a Workforce Training Center in Post Falls and the Career and Technical Education Center in Rathdrum. As one of three community colleges in the state, North Idaho College works to provide a variety of career pathways for students from fast-paced, one-credit classes to certificates and transfer degrees. NIC works closely with the University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College, Idaho State University, and Boise State University to provide transfer options for students.

We realize that for you, North Idaho College isn’t the only option. As you compare higher education institutions, please pay particular attention to the value offered at North Idaho College. NIC continues to be among the most affordable higher education options in the state. Tuition and fees at NIC are typically a third of what you could pay for your first two years at a public university and a quarter of what you might pay at a private four-year institution.

Whether you are seeking one course, a certificate, a degree, or even personal enrichment through community education, I think you will be pleased with the array of educational offerings available to you at NIC. And I promise you, you won’t just feel like a face in the crowd at North Idaho College. With a campus on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, the beauty of our surroundings and the opportunities to get outside and get involved are just a few of the many reasons to become a Cardinal!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about North Idaho College. I invite you visit us at any of our campuses, or reach out any time so we can help you take the next steps to your future.
