Must Complete Prior to Check-In

If any of these are incomplete, please add the following time increments to your check-in:

  • Check-In forms: Add about 20-40 minutes to your check-in. You will be unable to get your keys until this step is completed. Take a few minutes now, complete the information.
** There will be no workstations for you to complete this, at check-in.
***You will not be checked in until we have an email confirmation that this has been completed.

  • Student ID: Add 30-40 minutes to your check-in. (see to RIGHT, "Student ID & Res Hall Key")

  • Immunizations: Add 20-30 minutes to your check-in. (see Immunizations)

  • Student Finance/Financial AID: Add at least 1 - 4 hours to your check-in (go to your MyNIC, to complete a payment plan, or make sure your account is paid in full prior to arriving. Contact Cardinal Central with questions: (208) 769-3311)

  • Mail & Packages: Please use this address for mail only.
    “YOUR NAME”
518 College Drive, Box # ”Your box #”
    Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814
You will receive your box number in your roommate email.
    * If you are receiving a package bigger than your mailbox, have the sender put your room
number on it instead of your box #. It will be delivered directly to your room.
** If the college address is used, your mail may not be received and may be returned to the
    sender.

Do Not Do a Change of Address!
Because of the way our mail comes to campus, it is considered a business address. Therefore, if you do a change of address, once you leave and do another change of address - all college mail would be forwarded to your home. This will not happen, and you’ll be required to contact ALL individuals about your new address.

Instead, go to www.usps.com, forwarding mail, Regular Forward Mail, click the box to change your address. Go to the BOTTOM of the page, and click temporary move. Fill out the information. Be sure to include the correct dates, for the correct semester/academic year.

This should set your mail up to only arrive here during said dates. This should eliminate any issues. Please contact your local Postmaster with questions.

  • Immunizations: Email pmczirr@nic.edu; or FAX (208) 769-7814
    ** Hard copies are discouraged.
Please send in your immunization records, in the above manner. These records are required in order to live on-campus. A hold will be placed on your account, 1 week after check-in if immunizations are not on file!

  • Bookstore:
The Bookstore will be open on Check-In Day from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. You can get your books and supplies, as well as outfit the family with NIC gear.

  • Parking Passes:
In order to park legally in the hall, you will need a Residence Hall parking pass. Parking passes are $36 and must be on any vehicle you take to campus, and they must be displayed so that the front of the pass is visible from the outside of the vehicle.

You can get your parking pass online. Be sure to mark the box labeled Residence Hall Student so that you get the right pass. We are happy to exchange out permits to correct the mistake, but, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the Residence Hall pass. If you display a regular student pass and park in the Residence Hall lot, you will receive a citation.

You will pay for your pass online, and receive it at check-in, or in your mailbox – dependent on the time of purchase. Residence Hall passes allow you to park in the Residence Hall lot, and in regular student parking. A parking map and more information on parking rules and regulations can be found here. Please familiarize yourself with campus parking rules and regulations before coming to campus.

If you have any questions about parking on campus, feel free to contact Cardinal Central at (208) 769-3311 or by emailing parkingservices@nic.edu.

  • Cardinal Card/ID/Key/Food Card:
If you are going to be on campus prior to check-in, please complete the photo ID process. This will be what you use for all Residence Hall and market functions. Only about 33% of residents have gotten their IDs, so it is likely that there will be a significant line for IDs on the day of Check-In.

    * To save yourself some time at check-in, add your photo to the system ahead of time, so that we can
have it printed and waiting for you. A link was sent in your confirmation letter, with all the
requirements.  Or click the link "Student ID & Res Hall Key" on the right hand side of our page.

  • Credit Load
All residents must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours a semester and making academic progress in a major/certification. Residents that fall below 12 credits hours will be required to produce an accommodation letter from the Center for Educational Access. If they cannot produce such a letter, they will be expected to move out.

The residence hall is NOT an apartment, it is an educational housing facility, and residents are expected to be full-time, dedicated students.
We have been busy all year getting everything ready for your arrival, including cleaning, repairing, training the Resident Assistants (RAs), finalizing the handbook, and making mailbox and roommate assignments. Remember to bring the essentials first, and then you may decide to bring other larger appliances or furniture if you live at a relatively close distance away from NIC. This way, you can avoid having 4 fridges and 4 couches in the limited space we provide.
