American Indian Studies

American Indians

The American Indian Studies program at North Idaho College was designed in collaboration with the Coeur d'Alene Tribe and examines the contemporary and ancient experiences and ways of life of the first peoples of North America from their perspective.  The curriculum is designed to provide a study of American Indians from a holistic and humanistic viewpoint by focusing on their cultural, historical, and contemporary life.  It is an interdisciplinary program drawing on the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural resources, science, and professional studies.

This program satisfies the requirements for either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science academic transfer degree and is intended to serve both Indian and non-Indian students.  Course selections should be tailored to match requirements of the intended transfer institution.
