Immunization Requirements

We want your experience here to be healthy and would like to give you some important health information. The philosophy of our office is to promote wellness and health within a holistic framework.  NIC Residence Life works in coordination with Counseling Services, Student Wellness and Recreation Center (SWRC), and community health care providers and services as needed.

Immunizations are a valuable component to your health and the prevention of disease. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommendations for immunizations for students entering college. To ensure the health of the individuals in the residence hall, we are requiring each resident to have up-to-date immunizations for:

  • measles, mumps and rubella (2 MMR Vaccines)
  • polio
  • Hepatitis B
  • One Tdap after age 14, as a booster to the original tetanus series. Tdap is a tetanus/diphtheria booster with adult pertussis vaccine.

Additionally, we, in accordance with the ACIP, strongly recommend that you be fully informed about meningitis and consider the Meningococcal vaccine.

Meningitis is a rare, but often fatal, infection of the spinal cord and brain. The organism that causes meningitis may also infect the blood, causing a more systemic infection. For additional information, please feel free to contact your family healthcare provider, the CDC website or the American College Health Association’s website.

Please complete the Immunization Record and return it to the Residence Life office via email paula.czirr@nic.edu. No hard copies will be accepted.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at (208) 769-5988 or paula.czirr@nic.edu

We look forward to working with you to create a healthy experience at North Idaho College.
