Committee Roles

  • Chair: Leads committee in the selection of common read based on Diversity Committee theme and develops and executes supporting events. Represents the committee at campus and Board of Trustees meetings and serves as the point-of-contact for questions about the Cardinal Read.
  • Vice-Chair: Supports chair and serves in that capacity when the Chair is unavailable.
  • Secretary: Records and shares a summary of each meeting with the committee.
  • Assessment and Curriculum Coordinator: Maintains, distributes, and develops (if necessary) assessment instruments that are used for events and the selection process of a new title for the common read.
  • Events Coordinator: Oversees the scheduling of rooms and committee-sponsored events.
  • Marketing Coordinator: Collaborates with Website Coordinator and college marketing to promote committee-sponsored events.
  • Website Coordinator: Manages and updates the committee's web presence.
  • Representatives: Participates in and supports committee events when schedule and availability permits. Examples include Day of Welcome, Workshops, Roundtables, Film Showings, Lecture Series. Also participates in the selection process of a new title for the common read.
  • Liaisons: A position filled by any faculty, staff, or student representative when there is no representation for that population. As an example, if the committee is without student representation, a faculty or staff member may be appointed to coordinate and communicate with ASNIC to either fill the position or consult with them when appropriate or necessary.
