Commencement

Upcoming graduation?

We want to ensure that your graduation and commencement experiences are as enjoyable as possible. The following information will assist you in completing the necessary steps toward graduation and commencement. If you have any questions, contact graduation@nic.edu.

Commencement

  • The 2026 Commencement ceremonies will be held on May 15, 2026.
  • Commencement will be two ceremonies at the Schuler Performing Arts Center in Boswell Hall.
  • The first ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will include candidates earning academic certificates, A.A. and A.S. degrees, excluding dual credit students.
  • The second ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will include candidates in the dual credit, health professions and technical programs (certificates and A.A.S. degrees).
  • Each ceremony will last approximately 1.5 hours.
  • Each candidate will receive four (4) guest tickets.
  • Guest tickets not needed may be returned to Cardinal Central for distribution to other candidates.
  • On Commencement day, guests with tickets should go to the Schuler Center where seating is first-come, first-serve.
  • Children who can sit on a guest’s lap do not need tickets.
  • Accommodation requests for ticketed guests should be submitted at least 7 business days before Commencement by completing the Commencement Accommodation Request Form. Requests received less than 7 business days before the ceremony cannot be guaranteed; however, every effort will be made to provide requested accommodations.   • Individuals without tickets can view the ceremonies in the Todd Lecture Hall on the main floor of Molstead Library, across the road from the ceremony, or on the NIC YouTube channel.
  • Programs will be available at the ceremonies for all attendees and after the ceremonies by request (graduation@nic.edu).
  • Professional photos taken on stage may be obtained by visiting Leo's Photography and using the envelope code: GRA228735.

Candidates

  • Students eligible to participate in Commencement are graduates from the previous Fall Semester, and candidates of the current Spring Semester and the upcoming Summer Session.
  • Tickets are not required for candidate participants.
  • There is no rehearsal; candidates should report to the Student Union (SUB), one hour prior to the ceremony to line up for the processional.
  • Candidates may decorate their caps with discretion.
