My name is Adan Saucedo Gonzalez, and I am passionate about helping students navigate challenges, develop resilience, and grow into the best version of themselves. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, self-discovery, and meaningful change. I view counseling as an opportunity to help students better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and move toward a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

During my graduate training, I completed my counseling internship at the Aggie Health & Wellness Center at New Mexico State University, where I provided counseling services to undergraduate and graduate students. Working with college students strengthened my passion for supporting individuals through life transitions, academic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, identity development, and personal growth. I understand that college can be both an exciting and challenging period, and I strive to help students navigate those experiences with greater confidence, self-awareness, and resilience.

My counseling approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where students feel heard, respected, and empowered. I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based strategies.

In addition to my clinical mental health training, I completed a year-long performance psychology internship with the La Sierra University Men's Basketball program, where I worked with collegiate athletes to enhance confidence, emotional regulation, focus, and performance under pressure. Drawing from performance psychology principles, I enjoy helping students develop mental skills that support academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being. I incorporate mindfulness-based strategies to help students increase self-awareness, manage stress effectively, remain present, and perform at their best during challenging situations.

I am committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where all students feel supported in pursuing their academic, personal, and professional goals while at North Idaho College.
