North Idaho College will host its annual Women at Work event from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the NIC Parker Technical Education Center in Rathdrum.

The event, designed to introduce women to career and technical education programs offered at NIC, is free and open to the public.

Participants can hear from guest speakers in local industries who will share their experiences working in traditionally male-dominated fields. The event also includes tours of the Parker Technical Education Center, lab demonstrations, and opportunities to meet and talk with program instructors.

Additional highlights include break-out sessions about various topics taught by local professionals, free food and drinks, and information about in-demand careers and how NIC programs can help women enter the workforce with valuable skills.

“It’s one of my favorite events we do at NIC,” NIC Marketing and Events Coordinator Elli Michael said. “It’s great to see all these people come in and see that there are so many career possibilities out there that they didn’t consider before.”

Michael said that the event has grown significantly over the years in attendance and support from local businesses.

“Having successful women come and speak about their careers in fields like construction or auto repair is invaluable,” Michael said. “It helps give others an opportunity to see that they can do this too.”
