Frequently
Asked Questions
When will I get my results?
- You will receive an NIC English course placement within one week after completing TWC.
|
Can I stop in the middle of the assessment and come back to it?
- Yes. You can stop in the middle of TWC and complete it at another time. TWC will resume at the place you left.
|
Can I go back to previous screens (i.e. to re-read the article)? - No. Be sure to read each screen thoroughly. Once you acknowledge you have read that section, you will not be able to refer back to it.
|
Can I repeat the assessment if I don't like my placement?
- No. TWC gathers information about your own assessment of your skill level in addition to your demonstrated writing ability and your reported information about your reading and writing experience.
- If you entered information in error, or if you have further questions about your placement, please email the Assistant Chair of the English and Humanities Division, Lucas Brown (lucas.brown@nic.edu).
- If you placed into English 101 and were hoping for English 102, you potentially can complete both courses in the same semester by taking the accelerated-pace, eight-week versions of these two courses when they are offered as a cohesive pair--English 101 the first half of the semester, followed by English 102 the second half with the same instructor. Talk to your advisor for permission to register if you think this could be a good match for your goals and readiness.
