ASNIC Student Government Elections 2026-27 Candidates

All NIC Students should have received an email where they can cast their vote for next year's ASNIC Student Government. Polls close on April 16th.

ASNIC President Candidates:

Thayen Treto
Thayen Treto

I am a strong candidate for ASNIC President because I want students to feel heard and represented. I’m approachable, reliable, and willing to put in the work to make improvements happen. From previous leadership experiences and my strong work ethic, I strive to find solutions to problems when they arise, and I believe in strong communication and being a team player.

ASNIC Vice President Candidates:

Josh Griffin

I am an ideal candidate for Vice President because of my previous experience as ASNIC President during the 2024-25 school year. My time as President taught me how to effectively advocate for students through clear and professional communication, leading by example, and building meaningful connections with students, faculty, staff, and administration. As Vice President, I will use these skills to make and influence decisions that will positively impact the success of NIC’s students, both now and in the future.

ASNIC Senator Candidates:

Jaide Wardon

Jaide Wardon

I believe I have considerable leadership abilities. From the 6th to the 10th grade, I was an active member of my school's leadership club, and I have been involved in Girl Scouts for 12 years. I currently volunteer to assist in organizing the Girl Scout Daisy delicate events, where younger girls are encouraged to participate in planning, take initiative, and assume roles within their Girl Scout community and events. I also feel confident in my budgeting skills. My experiences with Girl Scouts, cookie sales, and badges have demonstrated my marketing acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, and quick decision-making abilities. I have devised strategies to enhance participation, encourage increased sales, and foster greater community involvement in cookie selling, as well as effective management and upselling techniques. I worked for a CDA4KIDS for two years, where I had to be innovative, ensure that all children felt included, and that everyone had a role in the activities we conducted. It was essential to plan activities that were educational, creative, entertaining, and allowed for diverse contributions from all participants. Additionally, I believe I excel at managing budgets due to my experience with meal skills, as I can step into a leadership role, provide creative ideas, and actively seek input from others regarding their preferences. This collaborative approach will enable us to discover effective and innovative ways to provide all students with the resources they need to

I think I would be a good candidate for this position because of my past experience in student government. I was very involved at my high school and as a freshman at NIC. Also, I am currently an ASNIC Senator and understand the expectations of the position. I have loved holding this position and being a part of ASNIC. It has created experiences for me I did not think I would ever be involved in.

Georgia Naleski

I would be a good candidate for ASNIC student government senator for many reasons. I am highly involved with North Idaho College, and many programs within the school, and the student body. For example I am on the NIC women's soccer team, and I live in the on-campus housing during the school year. Next, I think I would be a good addition to the team because of my dedication, and determination, not only in academics but in athletics and my personal life as well. I strive to give all aspects of my life 100 percent effort. This sets me up for success in the future where I plan to go into the medical field, and help as many people as a can. I love to connect, and work with others on projects and difficult tasks. I personally find myself organized, and love to be creative. I am not afraid to ask questions, or to ask people for help when I need it. I believe I could contribute a great amount to the student government team, and can offer new perspective and insight into the student body voice and reason.

John Anfang

I believe that I am a strong candidate for ASNIC Senator because I enjoy meeting new people and forming connections within the college community. I want to give back to NIC as I have had a great college experience and want other people to have that same opportunity too. I have developed strong leadership skills through my experience being an Eagle Scout. During my time in scouting I have led teams and organized community projects. These experiences have helped me develop good communication, accountability, and teamwork skills.

ASNIC Senator (Dual Credit) Candidates:

Luella Treto
Luella Treto

I would be a good candidate because I will work tirelessly with others to improve North Idaho College in many different ways. I’m hoping that as a new Dual Credit student I will be able to learn from others in ASNIC while also helping to shape NIC. I am the third in my family to run for ASNIC and I feel as if it is my duty to run for ASNIC to keep my family’s legacy alive.

Caden Bates

I would consider myself to be a good candidate, considering I have leadership experience in both high school and the workplace. I served as my Junior class's Vice President in high school and found myself helping with planning a large number of student-led activities and assemblies. I have also been trusted with lead responsibilities in a few jobs, which have also recognized my leadership abilities. As a Dual Credit student, I find myself balancing my life between high school and college, and one of the aspects of high school that I am still actively a part of is the Honors Society. I strive to help others succeed in their journeys and love being a part of an organization that makes a difference.

Oliver Barnard

I feel that I am a great candidate for this position. As a dual credit student, I represent a small minority group of the student body and I feel like I can take my experience into the position. I am very capable and experienced with a lot of different legislative and judicial duties. I feel like both the council, and the student body as a whole, would benefit from me filling this position. I'm driven, will work hard, and will continue to do be best for the school and the student body.

Lily Anna Lee

I am a Dual Credit student at NIC, and although I'm not able to file it, I am working towards my Political Science degree. Not to self-inflate here but I believe I would honestly be an amazing candidate for this position, my skills and character would be a valuable asset, but more importantly I have reason to give my best and to fight to do well. My eventual hope is to be involved in and influencing state or even federal government and there is no better place to start than right here. I have an insatiable desire to learn, and more than anything that's my superpower. But it doesn't hurt that I'm administrative and sociable. One thing I'm actively working on is my time management skills; however, I can confidently say I'm rapidly improving there.
